Highlights of the Hoh

In real time we are now on the plane to Detroit, but in blog time....
The post-Sol Duc part of our trip was not really planned in advance. We didn't exactly flip a coin as we left Sol Duc, but I think we started off heading towards the natural Olympic Hot Springs and Port Angeles, and then turned around and went back to Forks to do laundry and find more rainforest campgrounds. We stopped at a couple of state campgrounds but held out for the Hoh. As we drove up we were rewarded with Elk crossing the Hoh river:

The first night we opted for some easy car camping:

The next morning we packed in to the first 'back country' site, just a mile up the trail.

It was the perfect way to spend my 35th birthday.
