starting a garden

I'm way behind in posting. We've been quite busy and have so many pictures to share. We still have pictures from our vacation up in the rain forest, pictures from our garden a couple of weeks ago, and pictures of Salem just being cute.

Here are pictures of us constructing a raised bed on one of the terraces at Powell Plaza, out behind the swimming pool:

Now we have basil growing, and tomatoes, and melons sprouted. We built this bed with our own supplies, but the plan is to build four or five more with embassy supplies for a community garden. We have a few other families interested, and even someone willing to take over maintenance when we leave. So now we are waiting for the supplies to come through.
